The Blind Swordsman

This is a short VR game that I worked on for the 2017 Global Game Jam. The theme of the jam was Wave, so we made a game where you see by echolocation. The premise is that you are a blind swordsman haunted by the spirits of your past, so you enter a cave in order to summon and defeat them. Since you are blind, you can only see when sound waves are bouncing off the scene around you, and when you move, the enemies do as well. Thus, the ideal strategy is to avoid moving as much as possible during periods of darkness, and to quickly strike when you can see your enemies.

We created the game in Unreal Engine 4 and Maya 2017. For my part, I contributed the final design for the game, coded most of the player mechanics, and implemented the echo-wave post-processing effect.
